October 27th
Hello SciMed enthusiasts! In honour of October being Autism and ADHD Awareness month in Canada, SciMedinAction has more treats for you!
ADHD Awareness month is important to acknowledge as many children and adults continue to struggle. Awareness about ADHD can help promote early diagnosis and intervention which may lead to more effective, successful and hopefully, shorter treatment.
On October 27th, Kate Earley (@katesearly ) will takeover our Instagram account to answer any questions you have about ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder), share her experiences as a grad student with ADHD and more! This is a ‼️Q&A takeover‼️ She will cover a multitude of topics (relating ADHD) including: struggles of having ADHD, how to get into UFT Nursing, etc.
Kate Earley is a full-time student at the University of Toronto working towards her Masters in Nursing, Paediatric Nurse Practitioner and a collaborative specialization in Global Health. Kate has worked as a staff nurse for the past nine years, caring for critically ill children in the PICU and Paediatric CVICU. Kate shares her experiences as a grad student with ADHD on TikTok. Her engaging tutorials have earned her over 60K followers and over a million likes. Kate hopes that by sharing her story, she can help promote equity, make academia more accessible to those with disabilities and help others see their neurodiversity as a gift.
